Some Beds are More Equal

Nothing makes me happier than price wars that I can take advantage of. Adjacent to that joy is finding a less expensive derivative of a great piece. Crate and Barrel does this a lot. I was running through there the other day killing some time, and saw a great example of this. Thomas O’Brien, one of my favorite designers who is has a great store/firm based in New York called Aero Studios, designed the Chelsea Bed for Hickory Chair.  Crate and Barrel took a shot at it with their Colette Bed. The bed frame is different, clearly not as substantial, but with just a pronounced upholstered headboard and no footboard, a king size comforter could easily mitigate much of the aesthetic difference between these two.
